How pelvic floor nidra helps women suffering with vulvodynia {and vaginismus}

One of the things I honour the most  about being in this space with you is you letting me into some of the most intimate and most painful areas of your life. 

Enter Vulvodynia and Vaginismus.  

Without question, these aren’t things you commonly see talked about on Instagram or Facebook. Both of these topics can feel like the most private of private matters, and can harbour an incredible amount of shame and confusion for women who are dealing with these superbly painful conditions.  

What is Vulvodynia? 

Vulvodynia is a medically unexplainable chronic pain that occurs in the vulva or the entrance of the vagina that makes it difficult or impossible for women to have or simply enjoy sexual intercourse. It’s estimated that more than 1 in 8 women suffer from this at some point in their life. YES, THIS IS OVER 16% OF WOMEN!  

Many of my clients come to me with one of these conditions as one of their main issues they would like to address and solve, so they can have a beautiful and rich sex life. {Or sometimes, to just feel ‘’like a woman’’ again.} 

When it comes to helping women with vulvodynia, I would like to share my client, Elaine’s story with you. 

Almost 8 years ago, Elaine had a horribly painful gynecological exam. The exam was truly intense on her system, and as a result, her body went into a state of deep shock. 

As the initial shock of Elaine’s exam subsided, a few weeks later, sex with her partner became very, very painful. Her cervix became incredibly tender, and a few months later, she was diagnosed with full spectrum vulvodynia.  

She was in pain, traumatized, not knowing where to look for answers…

For years, she was either living in painful silence or trying treatment here and there – without much of a difference – until she started to work with me inside the PELVIC FLOOR REHAB PROGRAMME. One of the first practices we explored together was Pelvic Floor Nidra.

This deep relaxation process allowed Elaine to literally turn around years of pain and effects of her traumatizing gynecological exam. She began to feel significantly better in only 6 weeks.

This superbly effective practice offers women with vulvodynia a daily refuge; a place where they can tame down their pain and foster deep relaxation in their system, resulting in a greater sense of well-being in their whole body.
